Micro Nicking

2025-12-16

Nicks are notches made on the cutting rules to prevent the cutting of the media at specific locations. This intentional omission ensures that, despite being cut, the media remains in one piece. The resulting uncut sections, or "ties," allow the material to be held together and cleanly moved to the next stages of the converting process without shifting or falling apart. These nicks can be created manually by a skilled operator using specialized hand tools. Alternatively, they can be made more consistently using dedicated equipment like a nick grinder or by certain rule-bending machines. Increasingly, nicks are applied with high precision using fully digital machines, which program the exact nick location and depth for optimal automation and repeatability.

Here we provided a video of micro nicking which worked by Adewo Auto Bender, a high-tech equipment for die-making.

Adewoo has always been dedicated to enhancing the precision of our machinery. Even if you might not require this level of accuracy in your die-cutting applications, we are still proud to showcase and verify that our machines can achieve an accuracy of up to 0.111 mm as clearly demonstrated in the illustration below.
